Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

Have a look around Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground!

Oh the great outdoors! How peaceful it is to sit out under the trees, smelling the campfire, roasting marshmallows, and turning in for a cozy night in a sleeping bag while crickets and frogs lull you to sleep.

Or maybe your idea of camping is more along the lines of a well-equipped travel trailer parked in a nice wooded area with lots of trails to explore. You may even wish you could get all the benefits of camping, but without the housekeeping and set up involved.

What if I told you of a resort that not only accommodates all this, but also provides swimming, horseback riding, bicycles, boating, shopping, restaurants, a petting zoo, and much more? Sound like a pretty good vacation?

What if I told you all this was smack dab in the middle of the Walt Disney World Resort, giving you theme parks, water parks, and numerous shopping and dining options? It may sound too good to be true, but that’s Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground!

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is one of the oldest Resorts at Walt Disney World, but luckily, Mother Nature ages well. There are tent and pop-up camper sites, as well as sites with hook-ups for motor homes and travel trailers.

And for those less adventurous campers, Disney has provided the ultimate camping experience. There are ‘Wilderness Cabins’ that are virtually mini-homes, with kitchens, bathrooms, and they even have housekeeping service! So get ready to get back (or say hello) to nature, Mickey Mouse style!

Effective June 1, 2007: All Disney owned and operated resort hotels and Disney Vacation Club resorts are smoke-free environments except for designated outdoor smoking locations. Smoking is prohibited in Guest rooms (including the patio or balcony), restaurants, ballrooms, and all other indoor and outdoor common areas.

Special note for Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground: Smoking is permitted at campsites, on cabin porches and in the designated outdoor smoking locations. Smoking is not permitted inside cabins.

TourGuideMiKE Tip: Disney cares about your health and so do I, but if you need to know where those 'designated smoking locations' are, simply ask for a map at the resort's front desk.
