Pleasure Island

Pleasure Island will be closing it's doors on September 28, 08. Disney says, "Walt Disney World guests will soon enjoy numerous enhancements to popular Downtown Disney locations, extraordinary new shopping, dining and other experiences - including a completely re-imagined Pleasure Island. We will bring an extraordinary mix of shopping, dining and other experiences to Pleasure Island and are currently considering unique concepts from around the globe." I will update as new information becomes available.

The Disney folks realized they needed another destination for their guests to visit after the theme parks closed, or to at least consider on a relaxing day. The Walt Disney World Village opened in 1975, and provided Disney-style shops and eateries for the masses.

Then along came April 1989 and everyone needed a place to dance to the mega-hits of the day! Oh, what to do, what to do? Pleasure Island was that answer with a plethora of nightclubs for every musical taste!
